Steve and Iona helped us with some renovations and re-decoration of our 2 bedroomed cottage in St Agnes, Cornwall in January until March 2017. They worked to a very high standard and made some really helpful suggestions, which certainly improved our ideas of what we thought needed doing. Their work included some re-plastering of inner walls, re-sanding of parquet floors and bannisters, re-hanging doors and fitting door furniture, repainting the kitchen units and the frames of multi-panelled windows (a really tricky job) and general re-decoration throughout. We appreciated the weekly photographic update of progress because we were not on site during the works. The result is absolutely beautiful, thanks to their care and attention. It was a pleasure working with two such helpful and pleasant people. whom we can highly recommend.
We bought a cottage just outside Padstow in the summer. The cottage needed a full renovation so that we could let it along with splitting a large bathroom into a smaller bathroom and 3rd bedroom.
I came across the EGD Renovations website in a search for developers in the area and met Steve and Iona.
We hit it off with Steve and Iona immediately and they were clearly very experienced in renovations, giving great advise and suggestions on what we could do to the cottage.
At the outset Iona provided a very detailed summary of works, materials and cost. They recommended a plumber, electrician and plasterer, with all other work done by Steve and Iona.
At the end of each week we were provided with details of the materials purchased and several photos and updates of the work that had been done. They co-ordinated with the plumber, electrician and plasterer who were also excellent. They were great at suggesting solutions to various issues that came up and has a great eye for detail. Everyone involved was also very accommodating regarding extra work that we asked for.
After 3 months the renovation work was completed and w are extremely pleased with the outcome. Everything has been done to a very high standard, the decorating and tiling immaculate, and the bathroom/bedroom conversion a complete success.
and Iona were an absolute pleasure to deal with and I would recommend them to
anyone who is renovating a property in Cornwall.
Our project was to renovate a cottage in Cubert which we had owned for a few years hoping that we would find an Inglenook in one of the walls. The work was dependant on what we found once walls had been removed. Steve would keep in touch daily by phone and with photographs via email showing progress etc. This was very useful. Steve project managed the construction/building side of things and would offer practical solutions to any issues which arose. He would also coordinate any other required trades such as electricians, plumbers, Wood burning stove installers etc. Once the building work was complete, Iona would take care of the decorating. They offer a great service and worked in partnership with us to renovate the cottage which they have done beautifully and skilfully. I would recommend Steve and Iona for any size building project as they are trustworthy, reliable and will offer solutions rather than present problems.
They are also very nice people as well!
Renovating a cottage
My first contact with Steve was when I saw him sitting on the roof of a house opposite. I wanted the exterior of my house painted, it is timber clad and over the years repeated coats of wood-stain had become darker and darker and the house looked bleak. He came over, understood what we were trying to achieve and the next day I had a detailed quote listing equipment,, labour, and paint quantities. Steve started a week later and despite threatening rain, and a major van breakdown he soldiered on, working to 7p.m. at times and over the weekend to keep to schedule.. His work is excellent and we are delighted with the result. We are particularly grateful to him for joining the house committee in choosing the final shade of off-white for the dormers, (it took 5 sample pots before we could decide but the house now looks really good), and to Iona for the most efficient administrative support of the job.
Iona and Steve have done an absolutely fantastic job under quite difficult circumstances. I live overseas and had a tight deadline to get my new holiday home updated, decorated and ready for the summer Season. They worked very hard, sent me regular updates and completed all the work on time. They even managed to do the jobs I kept adding to their list. They not only decorate to a high standard but also managed all of the additional trades I needed to have on the job and came up with great ideas to resolve any problems that cropped up. They are an exceptional partnership and really nice people. I highly recommend their services
Very Happy Customer
We were so
pleased to come across Steve & Iona's company. From the first phone call
with Iona, to the end of the job carried out by Steve, everything was of a very
high standard. We are very happy with our first experience of EGDrenovations
and look forward to using them again.
We felt a real sense of loss when Steve and Iona finally carried away the last paint brush and ladder after a 4 week total decoration job on the front of our terrace house in Newquay. We have so enjoyed having them around and have spent much of the month laughing. Don't get me wrong. They have done an absolutely superb job. And they work really hard. When the inevitable added unforseen complications arose, they tackled these additions with adaptability and much fairness. We would really recommend them to anyone. Last thing: make sure you buy in lots of extra coffee!

Top class job
Iona and Steve were fantastic! They even managed to cope with our two big 'Asbo' hairy hounds. We felt very happy to leave them with a key when we went out to work. Thank you so much

Dear Iona Just a short note to thank you for the really super job you made of the hall / stairs / landing. I am thrilled with the result and we definitely agreed on the right colour green. The day after you finished Michael arrived for coffee and we agreed that when Tim didn't turn up he did me a considerable favour. Michael said and I quote "her work is in a totally different class". Please thank Steve too. Best wishes to you all and thanks again.
Ours was the holiday let that is looking fantastic. No more T&G and property looks very clean and modern. Thank you Steve and Iona for doing a great job. As you know we lived away from the property and it was great to have people who we could trust to carry out the work. They even got our carpet fitters organised. Great job. Thanks again
EGD renovations is a small and very friendly company, and we really enjoyed having them around the office! We employed them to do some long overdue maintenance to the outside window frames and walls of our building. The work was clearly and competitively quoted, and well executed. I have now employed them to do work on my own house!

I wanted to say how pleased we are with the work that you did for us. For a lot of people upvc replacement windows would have been an instant quick fix. Having done that previously, and never being quite satisfied with our top of the range (that IS code for hideously expensive) windows, I'm glad we found you. The simple historical integrity of our property has been retained, if not enhanced. Having the existing sashes double glazed meant a complete rebuild of the weights etc but the improved noise reduction, safety and security this provides is invaluable & as parents and payers of some stonking fuel bills, we best appreciate the improved energy efficiency and sound proofing benefits. So recently during a storm, we raised a glass to yourselves, and toasted the fact that despite the lashing rain and wind outside - we were toasty, draught and whistle free and did not have to use the sofa to anchor the curtains. Three cheers for EGDrenovations. Hip,Hip..Much love, Helen and Simon

Iona and Steve have done an amazing job on our house in Flushing. What at first seemed a straight forward redecoration of a house where a smoker had lived for 18 years, soon became a bigger job. No corners were cut and their attention to detail and finishing are impeccable. They worked to budget. Diligently sourced quotes and project managed other contractors, as we were not on site. Iona kept us updated with emails and pictures detailing everything. We trust their opinion and their work. They have a relaxed and approachable manner and seem more like friends now! The internal work is complete and we have external work that we would like them to do in the near future.

Absolutely fantastic job. Very professional from first contact to completion of the work. Reasonably priced, but the quality of the work was exceptional, with great attention to detail. Very flexible to get job completed on time, will definitely use again and can thoroughly recommend.

Thanks so much for the terrific job you did, the finish is incredible, and the door your built (on the spot, with no fuss) has made the kitchen so much nicer. Thanks too for your positive attitude, such a welcome change after months of woe. I cant believe how competitive your prices are, wish I'd known about you ages ago!
Dear Iona, Thank you so much for the fabulous work you've done sprucing up my living area and kitchen. I consider myself very fortunate that you happened to have short notice availability just when I needed it. You were thorough and incredibly tidy - and even did a few extra bits that needed attention without being asked. Thank you. Let's hope the estate agent is as admiring of the finish quality as I was!

Re: Work carried out at Little Carnethic, Fowey In April this year we employed EGD Renovations to carry out comprehensive interior and exterior work to our home. Throughout this time their team maintained a very high standard of workmanship, from the initial stages of preparation right through to completion of the house, with very impressive results. The team employed by Iona & Steve were extremely professional and hard working, and we have no hesitation in fully recommending them to you

I completed an auction purchase in Illminster. The house was in a state of disrepair and required extensive work. EGD Renovations organised and completed plastering works, removal of an internal wall, replacement of ceilings, fitting of a new kitchen & bathroom, sanding & varnishing floorboards, and preparation / redecoration works throughout. With EGD Renovations on board, I was able to go to New Zealand for 6 weeks and come back to a near completed house. The emailed and sent texts with any queries they had whilst I was away, and on my return, I was very pleased with the outcome of their work. I am currently employing the skills of EGD once again, this time on the exterior of my home, where they are fitting a new slate roof including three velux windows, have strengthened joists and fitted new loft flooring, giving the house an additional bedroom. I have found Steve & Ionas approach to their work professional, efficient, flexible & careful, and positively recommend them

Steve Slade & Iona Manley carried out extensive renovation and decoration work on my house. Work scope included: repairs to roof, replacement of brick paving to the rear of the house, complete overhaul of sash windows throughout, fitting of fireplaces for coal fires, the bespoke building and hanging of double doors to divide two rooms, sanding & varnishing of floorboards re-plastering & decorating both internally & externally. The work was carried out efficiently and professionally to a very high standard and as un-intrusively as possible. Despite several unforeseen complications the work was also carried out to schedule. The latter two considerations were of particular importance at the time as we were expecting our first child. I would not hesitate to recommend EGD to anyone. Yours faithfully, Jeremy Broadgate
Dear Steve & Iona - On behalf of the staff, governors, parents and children, I would like to thank you for designing and constructing our 'insectarium'. We were very pleased that you returned in time to attend our official opening. Providing that the butterflies continue to breed, I think we have an exciting and innovative resource to support and expand the children's learning opportunities. We are looking forward to the next project!

Dear Steve & Iona, I am writing to express the appreciation of the whole governing body at Pelham for all the work you have undertaken and organised in connection with our ecological garden. As you probably know this culminated in no fewer than five awards locally. A remarkable achievement. Thank you once again for your valuable contribution.

Dear Mr Slade - A note to say thank you very much indeed for coming along to the opening of the Ecology Garden on Friday 7th March. I hope you agree with me that the ceremony was both dignified and exciting and that Professor Corbet's private comments to both of us were very welcome! He was most generous in his congratulations both to the staff and to the Parent Teacher Association for their initiative in taking the project forward and I was gratified to hear hi speak so kindly to you about the vast range of planting that you had undertaken so to make the Ecology Garden as beneficial to the entire school as possible. It was good to see you at lunch and indeed at the lecture and I do hope that you enjoyed yourself. The lecture got going once Professor Corbet started talking about dragonflies I felt - but maybe that's just me! With very best wishes to you and very many thanks indeed for a very professional job.
